Our group now meets every other month. We are detailing the main issues that were discussed at our November meeting.
Accidents in the village
There has been a noticeable increase in vehicle accidents since Mid September. 14 in all have been reported to the Police on Tollerton Lane (6), Lothian Road, Sedgley Avenue, Melton Road (invariably involving the bridge). An incident on the Lane opposite the Airport was particularly serious with the entrance drive/wall being demolished. The speed of the vehicles concerned has to be the cause.
Heavy Goods Vehicles
We continue to write to the owners of HGVs who use our village as a 'short-cut'. We are beginning to receive some co-operative responses and always welcome information from residents who notice particular offenders. Both TASC and the Parish Council then send out letters. Recent press coverage from Notts CC mentioned that they were considering weight restrictions on all our village roads. Any information we receive will be reported in this Newsletter.
Speed Limits - Cotgrave Lane/Road
We still are waiting the hear as to when the proposed changes will be introduced, particularly whether stretches of Cotgrave Road will be 30 or 40mph. We have asked the PC to try and establish when information will be available but in the meantime would like to thank all the residents on these two roads who have written to the authorities expressing their views. Also for the obvious inconvenience were suffering due to the roadworks on the A52.
Community Speedwatch
These have started again and our records will be passed to the Police for the appropriate action. Tollerton Lane will remain the road to be watched until the final decisions are made for the speed limits on Cotgrave Lane/Road. Once finalised they will also be designated Speedwatch areas and included in our surveys.
Tollerton Park
The signs indicating the entrance have now been erected and we would hope that
they have some influence in the speed of approaching vehicles. Planned developments for the village These include the proposed development of Nottingham Airport and the Community Centre. TASC are working very closely with the Parish Council in respect of the traffic implications for these two major developments and we are aware that the owners of the Airport are very anxious to keep the inconvenience to our village at a minimum. As more information comes to light we shall be reporting on the traffic issues and no doubt the Parish Council will be keeping you informed on the broader issues
involving there development.
