Our fund raising for When You Wish Upon a Star charity for sick children is doing well. So far we have raised around £500 from raffle tickets sales, a jumble sale and the guess the name of the bear competition at Tollerton Village Event. We will continue to raise funds for this very worthy charity at various events throughout 2009.
506 Visit Success
A visit by Flt Lt Ham and Sgt Smith of RAuxAF 504 (County of Nottingham) Squadron to our HQ was a big hit with the cadets. The cadets were given a display of some of the current kit used by the unit on Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and a talk of what life is like as a member of the unit. Junior cadet Woodier (one 2425 Sqn’s newest members) said :- “I couldn’t believe how heavy the kit and helmet was. It was really interesting to see what I could do in a few years if I decided to join the Auxiliary Air Force.”
Village Event Sell Out
We had a great day at the annual Tollerton Village Event in June. The Committee worked hard to keep the visitors refreshed by providing teas and coffees as well as home made cakes and real lemonade throughout the day. This proved so popular that the stall sold out! A number of potential new recruits came to look around our recruitment tent.

As I write we are looking forward to a visit to RAF Waddington Air Show and on July 11th - 12th a working camp at Rempstone Steam and Country Fair.
